Q. Tell Me about Yourself

Sook Hee Chun works as a teaching artist in a film genre, spreading the fun of movies to people varying from children to the elderly, from Seoul to Jeju. As much as she likes movies, she likes teaching in film classes. She is a “weird” teacher with optimistic mind, who challenges herself to do unusual, difficult missions.

Q. What Is Your Driving Force or Inspiration of Your Practice?

It’s “fun.” If something sounds fun, I take part in it and go for it. I may be intrigued for different reasons, but as soon as I find it interesting, no matter how challenging it may be, I go for it. As I work on it, I discover new intriguing things from it and make it done.

Q. What is a Teaching Artist?
Describe the Teaching Artist You Would Like to Become in Ten Years.

A teaching artist is a person who continues to study both arts and education with affection to both of them. I want to be a weird, surprising teaching artist in ten years.

Q. What is the Metaphor, the Right Word, for your Practice?
And Why?

A flower bouquet. I want my practice to be like a gift of flower bouquet. I want to give this “bouquet” to any mundane, ordinary people on a mundane, ordinary day and want them to be happy having this gift.

Q. What Do Colleagues Mean to You?

For me, colleagues are the companions of my educational practice who consider me as their colleagues. Without telling each other, we look at the same direction, and then look at each other and start to laugh.
