#Dance #Time_for_Transition #Identity #Practitioner #Education_Field
Living in the era of post-COVID 19 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we would like to question and reflect on the core value of dance education and our role as practitioners. “What is dance?” “What should we teach?” “What does dance mean to children?” Questions such as these will be at the core as we conduct a case study on the dance education. The research topics will be specified throughout movement workshops. With these activities, we shall affirm our identity as a teaching artist and write a manifesto for teaching artists together.
In the era of post-COVID and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, ‘dance’ is experiencing an identity crisis. Dance, in its essence, is bodily and temporary, bound to time and space, but the present time of Metaverse, multipleness, and ‘bodiless bodies’ contradicts this essence of dance.
Facing the time for transition as a teaching artist, our team will interact with one another to return to the fundamental agenda about arts and education, to rediscover the value of arts education proper for the present, and to find ways to practice in the field what we discuss in the team. Although these questions and agenda may have sound too burdening, there were people who joined the team to share the burden together. Thanks to our team members’ passion and willingness to be part of it, we had a very pleasant first meeting.
We will rediscover the value of dance education at the time of transition and practice it in the education field!
All sessions will be done in-person. There will be four open workshop sessions.

We will interact with children through ‘love.’ We will stand in children’s shoes when we practice. We will cherish the process rather than the result when children’s life meets the arts. We will let our arms wide open to embrace the diverse colors children possess. We will make sure our classes are led by children’s engagement rather than by our instruction. We will become a vehicle for balancing ‘diversity’ and ‘harmony’ through arts. We will be on the children’s side believing that our perspective on children is arts education.
